Today would be our day for sight seeing and fun, a great reward from the hard work this week. Once we finished another wonderful breakfast from Guadalupe, we drove to the mercado in Siguatepeque. While Lisa and I had a list of items to buy, we left it in the bus by accident. Fortunately we were able to remember what we wrote. In fact we negotiated each piece for a total savings of 90 Limperas. That may sound like we saved a lot but it translates into a little over $4.50.

Then for the most exciting part, our group headed for Pulhapanzak, the 125 foot waterfalls. While this had been my fourth time to these magnificent falls and they are still beautiful to see, it’s the power of the water that continues to amaze me. I love that the shear force of the water forces the entire group to work as a team.It would prove quite difficult to walk through the falls individually. There’s an extra sense of satisfaction once we’ve made it completely through. For Lisa, the experience reminded her of God because the falls were so powerful and consuming yet in the midst of it under an overhang, it was so peaceful and relaxing.

Then came time for an annual game of ultimate frisbee. Despite an entire week of manual labor and many soccer games, the energy level was high for the half hour we played.

Once we showered and rested, all of us gathered at a restaurant in our own private room with the Cerratos, Flores, and the Hollidays. The buffet food was delicious and afterwards we watched a slideshow of photos from this past week. But the best entertainment came when we commenced the third annual, “Eric v. Alfredo Impersonation Contest.” This annual challenge the past three years has pitted Eric Patton impersonating Alfredo and Alfredo Cerrato acting as Eric. This year, Alfredo won hands down because Eric could not help from laughing and Alfredo was so perfect in his impersonation, even Eric claimed that “Alfredo does me better than I do me!” Rocky “Balboa” Banks came in second with an excellent impersonation of Alfredo’s oldest son, Daniel.
