A slow leak in the faucet made a rather large puddle in the kitchen overnight. I
am sure that Tom did not immediately see a spiritual lesson in that as he
cleaned it up.
But Jim, one of two fifteen year-olds on our team, may have learned it by the
end of the day. He was assigned along with Ben to move hundreds of large tile
pieces off the front porch. But Ben was battling an upset stomach and was not
at full strength. Slowly but surely with sporadic help from the rest of us, the
large pile was finally moved. Not exciting work, but just as important as any
other. The large puddle was moved.
The painting and moving of tiles was completed by 4pm. We did our best to
understand what Evelio explained would be our next project: building a
sidewalk. But before that could begin, we would need to move dirt, a lot of
dirt. We would be saving the best work for last.
Jim and Eric were now sick but managed to sit through our worship and devotional
time. Michael read Jesus’ final prayer from John 17 communicating His oneness with the Father and His
desire that His believers would be one.
“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!”
Proverbs 6:6
