“But God...” This phrase found throughout the Bible usually comes after Israel’s disobedience and before God’s act of mercy on those He loves.

In the prayer of Nehemiah 9, which we studied together this morning, we saw the wonderful redemptive story of God, the One whose covenant was born out of love, continually hearing the cries of His faithless children and restoring the broken relationship ... time and time again.

Work moved outside as we came closer to finishing the rest of the bathrooms. It also moved a bit slower. But we persevered and were rewarded with Mocachina Supremas from the Esspresso Americano store.  We remembered Michael who was relegated to working on the PWM Honduras accounting with his own cupful.

When we arrived at the Cerratos, we were greeted by fellow PWM Board Member Israel Holliday and his family who had just arrived. They are in Honduras to discern the possibility of moving here and work with the ministyr full time. Once we finished a delightful soup, we along with the Cerratos and Hollidays drove to the park for a two hour 6 v 6 fútbol session. After we divided into three teams, one team sat out while the others played until a goal was scored and the losing team was sent off.

Later a team came that was from Canada who were working a camp. They were young and proved difficult to beat. The games were fast and furious at the beginning and progressively slowed. The games ended after my lovely wife who played diligently was hit in the face with a ball. Lisa later joked after seeing her swollen lower lip that woman actually pay for botox injections (now called “balltox”). She was named “Angelisa Jolie.” Needless to say, we were all thoroughly exhausted.

“But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.”
Nehemiah 9:17
