While we did end up sleeping at an apartment/hotel in San Pedro, we were able to get a restful sleep rather than trying to get to Sigua last night and possibly getting to bed late. After breakfast, we packed and gathered our belongings and ourselves into the bus.

This beautiful two-hour drive became a great time for our morning devotion as we discussed the Lord’s prayer. Afterwards Rocky gave a fun Spanish lesson. I wish I could say I am now fluent as a result but we all certainly improved. Upon our arrival at La Providencia, Alfredo gave us a tour of the facility. We were reminded of the  wonderful provision of God.

After lunch and the daily futból match, we finally began working. We started with sanding all of the concrete walls to prepare them for painting in the children’s home. We even put primer in two of the rooms. Those of us who mixed and poured concrete the previous year could not help but be thankful for this type of work, especially since it was indoors.

Guadalupe prepared some tasty enchiladas as we ate at the Cerratos. Despite being exhausted, we worshipped God together (thanks to the music playing through Rocky’s iPod and speakers). Tom led a creative devotion from Matthew 7 about our call to ask, seek, and knock.

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
Psalm 40:2
