Michael and I met with Alfredo, Douglas,
and Mizael for the morning while everyone else loaded block. We
didn’t miss that. We then joined everyone for lunch in
time for the daily soccer match over the field pocked with
crevices. The highlight was Tom’s “hat trick”
(three goals) giving us a 3 to 1 victory over the locals. No
ankles were destroyed.
More concrete mixing and loading for the
men. Nikita once again praised her team of ladies with a
“cheque leque pancake (pronounced
“pan-cake-ay”) for their sorting of 122 boxes. No
to be out done, I announced that the men worked “cheque
leque waffle.”
The team enjoyed a tasty soup after a
great time of praising the Lord through song. Alfredo shared
his powerful story of redemption and forgiveness. Later we
headed back to the apartments where those who wanted to go rest
could while the rest went across the street to play or watch
soccer. Six of us along with Alfredo played twelve games on the
courts winning six and losing six. We held our own against the
far younger Honduran teams and were encouraged by our great fan
support.
Zach, the youngest member of the team,
certainly has enjoyed all of the soccer and I haven’t
complained at all about it either!
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed
you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!”
Isaiah 43:1
