With both thanks and relief, the work
today was far lighter than yesterday. Yet we still did it with
joy and excellence. This followed Steve’s devotion
centered around Mark 1:40-45, Jesus’ healing of the leper
who in his excitement after being healed disobeyed Jesus and
began telling everyone of his healing.
Last year, I put up with a few complaints
from those who were disappointed that the food was simply too
good and too plentiful so that despite how much they would be
working, they would not lose any weight. I did not make any
such promises this year to that effect so I’m not sure
from where these expectations originated.
The ladies were divided with Sara and
Melinda helping Nikita sort clothing items from Providence in a
Box, Brenda training Douglas with accounting software, and Lee
continuing to help around with organizing the office.
Meanwhile, the men mixed and moved more concrete.
After dinner, we had the privilege of
joining the church meeting of Punto de Gracia (Point of Grace).
And it was truly a privilege from the Lord to worship with our
brothers and sisters in Christ who, despite the language
barrier, were united in faith. At the end, my dad and Melinda
were asked to come up front since they recently celebrated a
birthday. The congregation sang a song to them. I was given the
honor to pray over my dad while Brenda prayed over her
daughter, Melinda.
For through him we both have access to the
Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer
foreigners and aliens, but fellow-citizens with God’s
people and members of God’s household
